Frequently Asked Questions about Pricing and Billing
Q. What am I paying for?
All amounts that are charged to your account are shown on your account balance.
Each item contains detail that you can view by clicking on
next to the item description.
Subscription fee
Each week after your first month, your account will be billed a Subscription fee. Each Subscription plan includes a number of ad impressions. (see below for 'What is an ad impression?) Impressions included in a Subscription plan are discounted below the normal rate.
Usage fee
In addition a weekly Usage fee will be billed to your account.
- If you use less than your included impressions you will be charged $0 for usage
- If you go over your included impressions you will be charged per thousand impressions used (check your preferences for how much you will be charged per thousand).
Fee for Igloo managed payments
If you choose to allow Igloo to manage payments between you and your advertisers, then when your receive an amount through Igloo from an advertiser, a 2% fee will automatically be deducted by Paypal and sent to Igloo.
Q. What is an ad impression?
Igloo charges per 'ad impression'. An ad impression is a view of a single ad. So, if you are currently displaying 4 ads then you will be charged for 4 ad impressions per page view. If you are showing only your default ad, then that is 1 ad impression. If you have no ads at the moment, and do not display a default ad, then a page view will not result in any ad impressions charged.
Q. I still don't understand how much this is going to cost. Can you give me a scenario?
This is the scenario:
- Amy has a website with 15,000 page views per week.
- Amy's website usually has 10 ads showing and each ad pays USD$10 per week.
- Amy chose to use Igloo's automatic Paypal function.
Amy's website is going to be showing 150,000 ad impressions each week.
I would recommend the "Small" plan that includes 100,000 impressions for $4 ($2 for Early Adopters) per week.
The excess 50,000 impressions will be charged at 2.5c per thousand impressions (1.25c for Early Adopters).
From every payment that the advertiser makes to Amy, Igloo takes a 2% fee. The total for the week is $100 x 2% = $2.00.
So for this scenario as an Early Adopter:
Subscription: $2 (includes 100,000 impressions)
Excess impressions: 50,000 x 1.25c (per thousand) = 62.5c
Commission on paid invoices: 2% x $100 = $2.00
Total invoiced amount for the week from advertisers: $100
Igloo makes: $4.625 per week
Amy makes: $95.375 per week
Q. How do I pay Igloo?
To use Igloo you are required to have a Paypal account.
You have an account with Igloo that you can pay money into with Paypal. Go here to see your current account balance. You should always keep your account in credit to ensure that your ads are shown.
Q. I want to do my own manual invoicing (and I don't want to pay Igloo a commission?
Thats fine, if you prefer to handle your own payments: do not tick the box "Allow advertisers to pay automatically with Paypal" in your Preferences. Then, you just send invoices to your advertisers manually, and click the "Paid" button in the administration interface for that invoice when you receive payment.
Q. What happens if my account runs out?
If your account goes below $1 in debit, Igloo may choose to disable display of your ads. We haven't needed to do this yet, but may do so in the future. You should always keep your account in credit to ensure that your ads are shown.
Q. What do I do if I want a refund?
I am very sorry that you feel that way. Send an email to igloo@igloohq.com and you can be refunded all of your current subscription, and any unused usage fees. I would really appreciate knowing why, and what went wrong. I thought we were doing really well!
Q. Why are you asking me if I am from Australia?
Igloo is located in Australia, and in the case that your business is too: we have to charge you GST. At the moment the prices include GST, but we may in the future charge GST on top of the quoted prices.
